Love & Balloons

This amazing single mother, wanted a photoshoot with her kid, showing their very special bond, and that they have only each other. I don't do things a very conventional way, and I like images that are different, and are structured, not always to what we think they should be, with the whole family smiling. Throughout her whole set, there are some, both looking and smiling, but this particular one I loved, even though we couldn't see little Eva's face. There is a strength in it which I like.

When looking at this portrait, even before reading your comments, I also felt it was quite a powerful portrait. For me personally, it holds such mystery; the balloons, the little girl looking away, while the mother gazes straight into the camera. The expression, and non-expression is emphasised by the muted tones, isolating your subjects. The blond hair of both subjects introduces a sense of unification and supports the fact that it is mother and daughter. A feature in my books. Well done!
