"I love the detail in this shot. The veins of the flower and the color. I think this is exquisite! Well done Susan."

"I think this is great! It has old-worldy colours and textures but modern abstraction and a grunge quality over previously favoured, pristine perfection in the subject matter. I can see this making a fine template for a pillow cover or tin or…"

"I somewhat struggle to find the visual balance and intent in this image, as the crop is too tight and leaving strong visual pointers to close to the edge with the bottom area counting as dead space."

Are you...
A Novice Photographer
Which genre(s) of photography interests you..
Portraiture, Fine-Art, Macro
Bio... something about you. Including camera equipment and software you're using...
I have a Canon 650D. I have always been interested in photography. I have been photographing handmade lace for educational purposes for some years with a macro lens. I also have a 50mm fixed lens that i use to photograph my grandchildren as well as a 35mm -120mm zoom. I shoot in RAW with my setting on manual and use the Canon software I received with my camera to edit. I have Photoshop CS2 but I find it very difficult to use. I am interested in learning to use light and develop my creative ability matching the technical necessity. Thank you for the opportunity to learn.

Deon en of Danie

Skies ek is  BC gebore. Before Computers.  Ek het my mal gesukkel om die fotos te laai. en toe laai hulle sonder die inligting wat julle vra.

Die swart en wit foto se titel is"Woman wearing Lace" I used a Canon EOS 650D with a Canon EF50mm 1:14 lens.  It was shot in Manual using a Studio flash. ISO 100. Shutter speed 1/125 and f stop f/9.  I used spot metering.  Post editing.  I shot in RAW and made the photo lighter.  I used photshop to brighten the eyes a little and whiten the lace a little.  I want the lace to stand out.  I would like to make a series of shots with models wearing lace collars.  the collars are antique handmade lace and very valuable and rare. I have no idea how to go about getting the results I want.  I have never shot in a studio before.  It was a great experience.

The photo of mother and baby is titled 'Mother and Baby" ( very original)  It was shot in Manual using the same Canon EOS 650D and Canon EF50mm 1:14 lens. The camera was handheld and I did not use a flash.  ISO was 800 and Shutter speed 1/60.  Aperture was f4.5. I used spot metering. I shot in RAW and there was no pot editing.  The baby found the whole episode were amusing and was laughing.  Mother and baby was lying on the floor. I was concentrating on baby so much that I feel my focus could have been sharper.

Ek sal regtig julle kommentaar waardeer.

Groete

Susan
